AWS TechOps – The Team that Runs the Cloud
We are the AWS TechOps team and we keep the cloud running. Our primary mission is ensuring any issues that could affect the customer experience are fixed as quickly as possible. We build tools to detect and resolve issues and run conference calls or “outage bridges” when the situation requires it. We are the team others look to in a crisis and the team that makes sure the cloud is always working for our customers.
What’s it like to run the world’s largest public cloud?
It’s a fast paced fun environment where no two days are alike. Our team invests heavily in automation – when an issue happens that can’t be automatically remediated, our tooling automatically determines the impacted services, the team responsible, and the person on-call to discuss. While on the team you’ll be building enhancements to that automation and tooling. Another day you’re directing restoration of a service, using your expertise to guide the troubleshooting and resolve the issue. Later you’ll take what you learned to drive improvements in process and tooling so that way future events are shorter or avoided entirely. You’ll grow in both your operational excellence and your development expertise while on the team.
